SOUTH BEND – Edward L. DeBlase, 67, of 23012 US 20, was dead on arrival at St. Joseph Hospital at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. He was the owner and operator of the Airport Fruit Market for 17 years and retired four years ago. He was born Jan. 27, 1903 in Chicago and came to South Bend at an early age.

He married Helen J. Reade who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Betty Laskowski of South Bend; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother Gus and a sister, Mrs Ann Holewinski, both of South Bend.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Kaniewski and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Edward L. DeBlase, 67, of 23012 US 20, was dead on arrival at St. Joseph Hospital at 8:30 p.m. Sunday will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Jacoba, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call in the Kaniewski and Sons Funeral Home until the time of services.
