Nila E. Deadmond, 84, residing on
Eisenhower Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 8:55 a.m. on
Tuesday, Feb. 15, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center,
South Bend. She was born on Feb. 28, 1915, in Pierceton, Ind., to
the late Lauren and Mildred Humble Eberly, and had lived
in South Bend most of her life. She was also preceded in death by
two brothers, Glenn Eberly and Willis Eberly. She was married to
Vernel Deadmond, who also preceded her in death on April 27,
1994. She is survived by her son, Mark Deadmond of South Bend;
and by two sisters, Mrs. Mary (Charles) Walgamuth of
Kalamazoo, Mich., and Mrs. Violet Price of Nappanee, Ind. Mrs.
Deadmond was formerly employed as a secretary for the Bendix
Corporation, and was a member of Calvary Temple Church, South
Bend.
Services for Mrs. Deadmond will be at 11
a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528
Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, with Rev. Charles Ternet, pastor of
Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial
will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive
friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, in the Palmer
Funeral Home. Contributions in memory of Nila Deadmond may be
