SOUTH BEND - Betty J. Dawson, 59, of South Bend, died
after an illness at 7:20 P.M. Tuesday, May 27, 2008, in Saint
Joseph's Regional Medical Center in South Bend. Betty was born
June 18, 1948, in Niles, MI, to Houston and Vicki (Tennant)
Scott. She was preceded in death by her father.
On July 7, 1990, she married Sherman N.
"Bill" Dawson in Mishawaka. He survives along with her
mother, Vicki Toth of Mishawaka; four children, Carrie
(Mike) Kinyon of South Bend, David Chodzinski and
Robert Chodzinski, both of Mishawaka, and Sarah (David) Newcomer
of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Cody,
Cheyenne, Patrick, Kaylee and Robert; and one
great-granddaughter, Jillyan. Also surviving are one sister,
Debbie (Chris) Ozdyck of South Bend; and three brothers,
Dan Scott of Mishawaka, Rick (Diane) Scott of South Bend and
Wayne (Angel) Scott of Tennessee.
Friends and family may call on Friday from 2
to 7 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka,
where funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. The Rev. Jeremiah
Griff will officiate. Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting
and cooking. But her one passion in life was visiting yard sales
and flea markets. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you
please make donations in memory of Betty to the family to help
defray funeral costs.
