MISHAWAKA - Robert D. Davis, 76, of Mishawaka, passed away
on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, in his residence. Robert was born on
December 31, 1931, in Mishawaka, IN, to Eben D. and Eleanor (Schneeweiss)
Davis, who have both preceded him in death.
Robert married his first wife Nancy Helvey,
who preceded him in death on February 14, 1998. He is survived by
their children, Candace (Eric) Martin of Detroit, MI,
Robert (Ellie) Davis of Pennsylvania, Rusty and his companion,
(Teena) Davis of Osceola, IN. Robert then married his second
wife, the former Violet Crowel-Vollrath in Plymouth, IN,
on December 30, 2002, who survives along with her children, Karla
Vollrath and Michael (Michele) Vollrath, both from Plymouth, IN.
Robert was a grandfather to 10 grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Robert's two brothers,
Leroy H.A. "Shorty" (Mary) Davis of Mishawaka and
Ronald (Judy) Davis of Lapaz, IN. Preceding Robert in death is a
brother, Eben H. Davis, who passed away in 1993. Robert was
previously employed as a shop foreman and mechanic for Morgan
Drive Away, retiring in 1996. He also retired as a laborer from
Power Gear of Mishawaka. Robert was a member of the National
Guard. He attended The United Methodist Church. He enjoyed
fishing and watching TV, especially old-time cowboy movies.
The family will receive friends on Friday,
May 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main
St., Mishawaka. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m.
Saturday, May 31, at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, with Pastor
Shirley Reamer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the American
Heart Association
as requested by the family.
