MISHAWAKA - Lena P. Davis, 99, of Mishawaka, IN passed away at 8:03 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2007, in Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend. She was born on February 1, 1908, in Lafayette, TN. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Davis, in 1983. Mrs. Davis is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Gillespie of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Jack (Patsy) Buck of South Bend, Nancy (Gary) Detert of Las Vegas, Rodney (Cheryl) Davis of Lakeville and Patricia (Don) Smearington of South Carolina; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Louise Buck in 1993; two sons, Vernon "Bud" Davis in 1972 and Harold "Pete" Davis in 1948; one grandson, Danny Davis in 1965; and by two sisters and one brother. Mrs. Davis worked for Ball Band/Uniroyal for 35 years retiring in 1963. She was a longtime member of First Brethren Church, South Bend.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend, IN. Rev. Larry Baker, pastor of First Brethren Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Lena Davis may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
