Debra Sue (Foos) Davis
Oct. 21, 2013
GRANGER - Debra Sue (Foos) Davis passed away Thursday, October
31, 2013 after suffering a tragic accident. Debbie grew up in
Granger, Indiana. She graduated from Penn High
School and then earned her RN degree from Memorial
Hospital School of Nursing, where she was awarded the Spirit
of Nursing award. Debbie's caring spirit continued on throughout
her entire life as she moved first to Indianapolis to be with her
fiancé, Brad Davis and then, after they were married, to
multiple cities across Indiana as Brad's jobs moved them around
the state. Some of the family's best years were when she was able
to move back "home" to Granger as Brad's job took them
to South Bend, and lived for seven years, within a mile of her
parents (Jim and Carole Foos) and sister (Cathy). Debbie's career
took her to several hospitals along the way, starting at St.
Vincent and then moving into labor delivery when the family moved
to Anderson. This continued in South Bend until she moved into
school nursing to be close to her daughters at school. She
continued in school nursing for the remainder of her career with
stops in Columbus, Indiana and most recently in Danville,
Indiana. Although nursing was her job, caring was her career.
This caring started with her family but did not end there. In her
school career she touched hundreds of lives in a positive way,
often providing support for students who were experiencing
difficulties in their lives. One of her most cherished
compliments came from one especially troubled student who wished
"Nurse Debbie, could be her Mom". It was certainly a
bittersweet moment for her. Her greatest pride and joy were her
children, Rebecca L. (Nick) Anderson and Amy N. (Chris) Condle.
She spent countless hours with them as they grew up, supporting
every activity from kindergarten to college. The depth and
breadth of this love resulted in what were, as she would be glad
to share with you, two fantastic adults with fantastic families
of their own. The greatest tragedy is that her three grandkids,
Drew Condle (20 months), Abigail Anderson (8 months), and Madelyn
Condle (2 months) will be deprived of the best "Grammy"
that the world would have ever known. They brought her much joy
in the short time she had with them and she made the most of
every minute with them. She will be missed by all who knew her,
but none more so than her husband of 32 years, Brad. Brad and
Debbie were not only high school sweethearts but were middle
school sweethearts. Their love for each other spanned 39 years
and will last through eternity. Words cannot express the depth of
his sorrow. A visitation will be held at Flanner and Buchanan -
Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave., Indianapolis, on Monday,
November 4th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be
made to the Debra Sue Davis Memorial Nursing Scholarship,
Hendricks County Community Foundation, 6319 East U.S. Highway 36,
Suite 211, Avon, IN 46123. Online condolences may be made by
