NORTH LIBERTY - Eleanor G. Davault, 83, residing in North
Liberty, IN, passed away following an illness at 11:10 p.m. on
Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, in her daughter's Bremen home. She was
born May 23, 1924, in Etna Green, IN, to Clarence and Ola (Guy)
Vining, and had lived in South Bend since 1953, coming
from Etna Green. She graduated salutatorian from Etna Green High
School, and received her bachelor's in education from Manchester
College. She began her teaching career at Cromwell High School.
After moving to South Bend, she taught with the South Bend
Community School Corp. at Greene Elementary School for 22 years,
and retired from Forest G. Hay Elementary School in 1983.
On June 15, 1952, at the Etna Green
Methodist Church, as Eleanor Vining, she was united in marriage
to Terry M. Davault, who preceded her in death on November 12,
1984. Twin daughters, Charlotte and Catherine shortly after
birth, and her brother, Lowell Vining on February 11, 1992, also
preceded her in death. Mrs. Davault was a member of Grace United
Methodist Church, South Bend, and attended North Liberty United
Methodist Church where her daughter serves as pastor. She was
active with the Widow-to-Widow Association where she served as
chairman, taught at Forever Learning Institute, was a member of
the Daughters of the American Revolution, Retired Indiana State
Teachers Association, and Retired St. Joseph County Teachers
Association. She is survived by two daughters, Rev. Denise K.
(Eric) Davault Gilbert of North Liberty and Elaine Joyce
Davault of Santa Rosa, CA; and two foster grandchildren, Kayla Payne
and Jesse Gidcumb. Also surviving are her
sister-in-law, Doris Vining of Etna Green, three nephews and one
niece.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Nov.
30, in Grace United Methodist Church, 3012 South Twyckenham
Drive, South Bend. Rev. Marianne Chalstrom and Rev. David Harrold
will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Etna
Green Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 8:00
p.m. Thursday (today) in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger
Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, and one hour
prior to services Friday in the church. Contributions in memory
