Florence M. Dauss, 78, of Elmer Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, in the Lakeland Regional Hospital, Lakeland, Fla.

Mrs. Dauss was born on April 9, 1923, in Newark, N.J., and had lived in this area most of her life.

She graduated from Bethel College, and was a retired school teacher with the South Bend Community School Corporation.

She was married in 1947 in New Jersey, as Florence M. Keegan, to John Dauss, who died in 1974. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Doris Ward.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Dauss of South Bend; three sons, Christopher T. (Kaye) Dauss of Indianapolis, Ind., John R. (Paula) Dauss of South Bend and Michael Dauss of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Megan and Justin Dauss, all of Indianapolis, Ryan and Ashley Dauss of South Bend, and Amber and Sean Dauss, both of South Bend; a sister, Marie Sharkey of Paramus, N.J.; and by a brother, Robert Keegan of Jacksonville, Fla.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday in Holy Family Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
