NORTH LIBERTY - Richard "Dick" Daughtrey, 67, of Venice, FL, formerly of North Liberty, IN, passed away on February 12, 2008, in his residence. Dick was born on December 31, 1940, in Marion, KY, and had resided in Florida since 1997, coming from North Liberty.

On Dec. 31, 1989, in North Liberty, he married the former Susie Saye, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Candice Wagner and Camila Eggers, both of South Bend; a stepdaughter, Debbie (Floyd) Goldberg of Florida; a stepson, Richard (Jeri Anne) Hayes of Louisiana; a sister, Jan (Tom) Firtl of South Bend; a niece, Kelly Grunwald of Granger, IN; and a nephew, Todd (Cindy) Carroll of North Liberty. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kitsy Daughtrey in 2001; and by his parents, James W. Daughtrey on March 9, 1996, and Betty Ann Daughtrey on April 30, 2000.

Dick served in the United States Navy and was proud to be a veteran. He was a member of the VFW Post in Venice, FL. Dick retired from Redi-Froz/Scot Lad Corp. after many years of service in South Bend. He was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors and, most of all, his dog, Dusty.

Dick's request was to be cremated, which the family honored, and a memorial service and burial will be at a later date in North Liberty. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph County Hospice or to St. Joseph County Pet Refuge, Inc. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend, handled local arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy
