Madge O. Daugherty, 95, of Lincoln
Way East, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 5:50 p.m. on Monday,
Oct. 16, in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and
Margaret Daugherty, South Bend, Ind. She was born in Garret,
Ind., on June 4, 1905, to the late John and Kathryn Snyder.
On April 4, 1926, as Madge Snyder, she
married Foster "Mike" Daugherty in Mishawaka. He died
on Dec. 23, 1954. They had a daughter, Marilyn Kay, who died on
Feb. 21, 1951, at age 11. She was also preceded in death by four
brothers and three sisters, William Snyder and Stella Spornhouer
of Bronson, Mich., Emma Heator of Coldwater, Mich.,
Walton, Everett and Bruce Snyder, Geraldine Tavernier, and
a son-in-law, Kenneth Wallace, all of Mishawaka. She was a
loving mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by
a daughter, Phyllis (Daugherty) Wallace of Mishawaka; a
son, James (Margaret) Daugherty of South Bend; twin
grandchildren, Michael (Nancy) Daugherty of Osceola, Ind., and
Diane (Jim) Carter of South Bend; six great-grandchildren,
Katie, Victoria, Audrey and William Carter of South Bend, and
Kayla and Krysta Daugherty of Osceola; and by many nieces and
nephews. She was a member of Calvary Temple, South Bend, and the
Senior Women's Ministries. Mrs. Daugherty worked at the Uniroyal
Ball Band Plant, and retired from Northern Indiana Children's
Hospital in 1967.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on
Thursday, Oct. 19, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 North
Main Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.
on Friday, Oct. 20, in Calvary Temple, 3717 S. Michigan, South
Bend, where friends may also call one hour prior to the services.
Senior Pastor Bill Howell and a nephew, Rev. Bruce Snyder of
Horsehead, N.Y., and Rev. Paul Murray will officiate. Burial will
follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. In lieu
of flowers, the family wishes that memorial contributions be made
to Calvary Temple Senior Women's Ministries or to Hospice of St.
Joseph County.
