Sister Mary Florian CSC, 84, of St. Mary’s Convent, died early this morning in St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend, after a brief illness. Born Rose Ellen Daniels on Dec. 12, 1892 in Plainville, Ill. she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on Jan. 31, 1911, coming from Quincy. Ill. She was received as a novice on Aug. 4, 1911, and professed her vows on Aug. 15, 1913. She was assigned to teaching throughout her community life and served in schools in Maryland, Washington DC, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia from 1912 until 1969, when she came to reside at St. Mary’s Convent.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call in the convent parlors, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday.
