Bessie I. Daniels, 92, residing on
Palmer Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 7:50 a.m. Friday
at Regency Place Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in South
Bend of natural causes.
Mrs. Daniels was a retired elementary school
teacher for the South Bend Community School Corp. She had taught
at the Edison Elementary School for 50 years prior to retirement.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1904, in Huntington, Ind., to the late
William Howard and Vera Iva (Garretson) McCrum.
Mrs. Daniels had lived in South Bend since 1941.
On June 25, 1941, in Paulding, Ohio, she
married George O. Daniels, who preceded her in death on Jan. 22,
1985. Survivors include: one sister, Iva Byerly of Elk
Rapids, Mich.; two nieces, Dorothy Lockwood of South Bend
and Carolyn Birge of St. Louis, Mo.; and three nephews,
Robert O. Starner of Claypool, Ind., Gary W. Cole
of Brighton, Mich., and James ''Rick'' Cole of Cape Coral, Fla.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.
Monday, at Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave.,
South Bend. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial
Park, Granger. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday at
the funeral home. Mrs. Daniels was a member of the Maple Lane
United Methodist Church, where memorial contributions may be
given in her memory.
