SOUTH BEND - Joan E. Dahms was born in South Bend, on
January 30, 1933, to Stanley and Josephine (Wroblewski) Kromkowski,
passed away in Memorial Hospital after complications from
surgery.
Joan married longtime sweetheart Ronald
(Ronnie) Dahms on January 31, 1953. She was preceded in death by
her parents, Stanley, on June 23, 1988, and Josephine on July 18,
1974, and two brothers, Robert Kromkoski on March 1, 1929, and
Richard Kromkowski on October 11, 1987. Joan is survived by her
loving husband and five children, Linda (Robert) Ullery of
South Bend, Gary (Mary) Dahms of North Liberty, Judy Mossell
of South Bend, Richard (Coyla) Dahms of Spokane Valley, WA, and
Mark (Tammy) Dahms of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Tanya Rose
of South Bend, Terrie (Reed) Kipp of North Liberty, Shawn
(Bonnie) Mossell of South Bend, Megan Radde of Granger,
Jackie (Mike Schroeder) Ullery of Indianapolis, Eric Radde of
Granger, Reshel Dahms of Spokane Valley, WA, Kali and Kendall
Dahms of South Bend; five great-grandchildren, Taylor Rose of
South Bend, Austin Csenar of North Liberty, Katie Peacock
of South Bend, Joshua Rose of South Bend and Zakary Kipp of North
Liberty; and two step-great-grandchildren, Kalene and Tracy Peacock
of South Bend. Also surviving are a sister, Lorraine Vargo
of South Bend; a brother, Jerome (Claire) Kromkowski of South
Bend; a mother-in-law, Lucille Frazier of South Bend and
sister-in-law, Rose Marie Kromkowski. She is also survived by an
uncle, Alfred (Phyllis) Kromkowski; an aunt, Virginia Kromkowski;
and a host of nieces and nephews.
Joan was part owner of Michiana Machine and
Stanley Enterprises, Inc., serving as secretary on both boards.
She also retired from Kmart and worked part-time at Sugar N Spice
at the Michiana Regional Airport. Joan was a licensed
cosmetologist and a lifetime member of M.R. Falcons Nest 4 in
South Bend and a member of Saint Hedwig Parish.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on
Monday, June 11, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower
Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Family
and friends will gather at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, in St.
Hedwig Catholic Church for the Mass of Christian Burial.
Cremation will take place with burial at a later date at St.
Joseph cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers the family asks
donations be made to Saint Hedwig Parish, Juvenile Diabetes
