NEW CARLISLE - George Edward Dahms, 77 of Chicago Trail in New Carlisle, passed away at 4:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007, in the Hamilton Communities of natural causes. George was born August 24, 1930, to William and Lucille (McNitt) Dahms in Waterveliet, Michigan. Survivors include his mother, Lucille Frazier of South Bend; his children, Michael Dahms of South Bend, Patrick (Michele) Dahms of South Bend, Sharon Babkoff of McKinney, Texas, Karen (Doug) Geehring of South Bend, and Janet (Tim) Reiter of South Bend. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Adam, Jared and Courtney Dahms, Sara and Ronald "Al" Babkoff, and Jessi and Zach Reiter. George is also survived by two brothers, Ronald Dahms of South Bend and Danny (Dixie) Dahms of Mishawaka. Preceding him in death were his son, Timothy S. Dahms; his father; and his sister-in-law, Joan Dahms.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2007, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2007, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home. George was employed for many years as a welder with Stanley Enterprise before his retirement 12 years ago. He also served as a volunteer firefighter on the Penn and Harris Township Fire Departments for many years. The Serenity Prayer God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. In his memory, donations may be given to the American Cancer Society in the name of "Amanda's Team."
