Richard Allen Daffinee, 57, of 642
Rivers Edge Court, Mishawaka, Ind., died at 8:50 a.m. Friday,
Feb. 15, in his residence. He was born Dec. 28, 1944, in South
Bend, Ind., to Allen and Musa (Walker) Daffinee. He was
preceded in death by his parents, and by a son, Mathew Ryan
Daffinee, who died in 1973. He graduated from James Whitcomb
Riley High School in 1963 and while attending Riley, he lettered
for two years in football, wrestling and track. He then graduated
in 1967 from Purdue University and while there, he earned two
varsity letters for wrestling. Mr. Daffinee was also a member of
the Delta Chi Fraternity and the Osceola United Methodist Church.
Mr. Daffinee was employed by the South Bend
School Corporation as a teacher and coach from 1967- 1968. He was
then employed by the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation from
1968- 1971. He then was the president and owner of Valley Machine
Products from 1971- 1996.
He married Cathy Rogers on Jan. 21,
1967, in South Bend. She survives. He is also survived by a
daughter, Mrs. Jason (Jill) Jaronic of Indianapolis, Ind.;
two sons, James (Cindy) Daffinee of Westfield, Ind., and Marc
Daffinee of Mishawaka; one grandson, Camden Levi Daffinee of
Westfield; and one sister, Mrs. Frank (Jane) Wogoman of
Granger, Ind.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4
and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Hartzler- Gutermuth-Inman Funeral
Home in Elkhart, Ind., and just prior to services on Monday in
the church. Memorial services will be held Monday at 4 p.m. in
the Osceola United Methodist Church, Osceola, Ind. The body has
been cremated and burial will be at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
