SOUTH BEND - Paul Edwin Custer, 85,
of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of South Bend, died Thursday in Bay
Front Hospital, St. Petersburg, Fla. Mr. Custer was employed by
the U.S. Post Office as a superintendent of a substation,
retiring in 1967. He was born July 25, 1908, in Mishawaka, and
lived in South Bend until 1968, when he moved to Florida.
On June 11, 1931, in Elkhart, he married
Jeanne Sager. She died Dec. 20, 1990. Surviving are two
daughters, Nancy Collins and Mary Ann McFarland,
both of Mishawaka; a son, Robert E. of Canon City, Colo.; eight
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harry of
South Bend. He was a member of St. Joseph Lodge 45 F & AM and
a former member of Grace United Methodist Church.
There will be no service or visitation.
Cremation will take place. Burial will be in Florida. National
Cremation Service, Sarasota, is in charge of arrangements.
