Death of a Centenarian
Mrs. Ellen Curran died at the home of her daughter in Bertram township, Berrien county, Mich., Sunday night, March 4th, 1900, aged 100 years. She came to this country from Leatrum county, Ireland, 73 years ago. Six children--three sons and three daughters, 26 grandchildren and three great grandchildren are left to mourn, Mrs. William Dare, of the Island, being one of the daughters. Grandmother Curran and her late husband, Patrick Curran, who died a few years ago, lived at Notre Dame many years. Mr. Curran was well known in this vicinity as the stock buyer for the college people. After his death she returned to the old homestead and lived with one of her daughters, where she was tenderly cared for the rest of her days. The funeral was held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the church of the sacred heart at Notre Dame and she was tenderly laid to rest in the Cedar Grove cemetery beside her husband. May she rest in peace. H.M.S.
