Brother Francis DeSales CSC, 79, a veteran
teacher of the Brothers of the Congregation of Holy Cross, died
Tuesday morning in the Notre Dame community infirmary, after an
illness of one week with a heart aliment. Born as Robert
Cullinan, May 6, 1868, in Leix County, Ireland, he received his
religious habit into the Congregation of Holy Cross, Aug. 15,
1887. He took his final vows Aug. 16, 1923. After teaching a
brief time at Holy Cross College, New Orleans, he spent most of
his time as a teacher at St. Edwards University, Austin, Texas.
Last year he served at Sacred Heart Juniorate in Watertown, Wis.
He was brought to the community a week ago when he became ill.
Among survivors is a sister, Sister Evangelist, of the
Presentation Order, Buxton, Derbyville, England.
A requiem mass will be conducted at 8:15 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Church at Notre Dame, with burial in Community Cemetery on the campus.
