Benedict (Ben) F. Cukrowicz, 81, of
South Bend, Ind., passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, in his
home. He was born on June 25, 1921, in South Bend to the late
Harry and Helen (Latowski) Cukrowicz and was a lifelong
resident. Mr. Cukrowicz retired from Kroger after 30 years of
service and been employed with the former Studebaker Corporation
for over 16 years. On Aug. 5, 1943, Ben married Elizabeth (Betty)
M. Turner, who survives. Also surviving are his sons,
Brian and his wife, Marcia Cukrowicz of South Bend, Noel and his
wife Kathy Cukrowicz of Granger, and Paul Cukrowicz of South
Bend; grandchildren, Kevin Cukrowicz, Julie Guin, Amy Frazier,
Sarah Cukrowicz, Stephen Cukrowicz, Paula Cukrowicz, Cynthia
Cukrowicz; great-grandchildren, Syd and Crystal Cukrowicz and
Katie Cukrowicz; a sister, Alice (Al) Deranek of South
Bend; and brothers, Raymond and Ernest Cukrowicz, both of South
Bend.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday,
Jan. 6, 2003, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive,
South Bend, Ind., where a Parish Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday,
Jan. 7, 2003, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with
burial to follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger,
Ind., with military honors. Mr. Cukrowicz was a member of St.
John the Baptist Parish, the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and
served in the Army during World War II.
