Helen Csik

Helen Csik, 87, of Lynnewood Avenue, formerly of the Shamrock Gardens Nursing Center and Fairington Circle, passed away at 5:55 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, in the Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. Ms. Csik was born on March 15, 1913, in Arad, Hungary, to Eugene and Maria Szabo.

On Nov. 11, 1937, in Hungary, as Helen Szabo, she married Julius Csik, who died on March 28, 1981. Helen was also preceded in death by her parents, and by a son-in-law, Marion Bensley. She is survived by three daughters, Violet (Bernard) Jelinski and Elizabeth Bensley, both of South Bend, Ind., and Judith Marie (Marty) Levin of Silver Springs, Md.; a son, Steven (Theresa) Csik of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren, Ramona Willis, Alan Ellis, Tammy Reuben, Jason Pogacnic, Iris Pogacnic and Ilona Weiland; five great-grandchildren, Lelana Asbrand, Jonathon Young, Robin Young, Luke Willis and Joshua Willis; and by a great-great-grandchild, Michael Asbrand.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, in Southside Baptist Church, 1130 Jackson Road, South Bend. Family and friends may call a half hour prior to services in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Southside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2494, South Bend, IN 46680. The Zahoran Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
