Frank J. Csenar, 72, of Lowell Wood
East in Mishawaka, Ind., passed away suddenly of leukemia at
11:16 p.m. Thursday, June 24, in the Saint Joseph Regional
Medical Center. He was born Jan. 11, 1932, to the late Jacob and
Anna (Widl) Csenar in South Bend, Ind., and was a lifelong
area resident. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death
by his brother, Tony Csenar. Mr. Csenar retired in January 1992
from the South Bend Tribune, where he served for 37 years in the
display advertising department. After retiring, he worked for
Merrill Pharmacy in Mishawaka and United Way of St. Joseph
County.
On April 28, 1956, he married Rita Wegenka
in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, South Bend. Along with his
wife of 48 years, he is survived by three daughters, Susan Csenar
of Elkhart, Ind., Jane (Tony) Elliott of Cincinnati, Ohio,
and Kay (Bryan) Waters of Indianapolis, Ind.; one son, Joe
(Jennifer) Csenar of Carmel, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Allison
Pitts, Sam and John Elliott, Jack and Ethan Waters, and Nick and
Kelly Csenar; and by a sister, Gisella Probst of South
Bend. Mr. Csenar was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Parish, a
member of Elks B.P.O.E. #235, and was an Air Force veteran of the
Korean War. Frank enjoyed traveling with his wife and playing
golf. He was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball, Indiana University
basketball and Notre Dame fan. He was a loving husband, father
and grandfather, and will be missed greatly by family and many
friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
10 a.m. Monday, June 28, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.
Family and friends are to meet directly at the church. Burial
will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
today, June 27, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix
Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:30
