MISHAWAKA - Metta Ardena Crum, 94, died at 12:45 p.m. Aug.
3rd in the Golden Living Center, Elkhart. She was born on
November 16, 1913, in Shelby County, OH, to the late Chester F.
and Nellie L. (Arthur) Clinehens. On Aug. 17, 1940,
in Osceola, she married Chester C. Crum, who preceded her in
death on Dec. 31, 2000. She was also preceded in death by sons,
Warren and Maurice Crum, and by a brother, Elmo Clinehens. She
was a homemaker and a member of the Cedar Road Missionary Church
in Osceola. Metta loved her family and was known at the nursing
home for her sweet nature and smile. She was a pioneer in hip
replacement surgery, having had both hips replaced in 1971. She
is survived by a daughter-in-law, Connie Crum of Mishawaka; five
grandchildren, Anita (Mark) Fry of Elkhart, Angelia (Dan) Ayers
of Valparaiso, Tammy (Brian) Armstrong of Mishawaka, Dave
(Rhonda) Crum of Niles and Jamie Crum of Kansas; eight
great-grandchildren, Brandon, Alyssa and Brooke Fry, Jessalyn,
Katelyn and Adam Ayers, David Crum and Cassidy Armstrong.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in
Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home, 1109 Lincoln Way West, Osceola,
with Rev. Terry L. Powell officiating. Burial will be at St.
Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 6 to
8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to
