Leroy D. Crum, 76, of Edna Road,
Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 8, in
his home. Mr. Crum was born on May 16, 1924, in Hibbard, Ind., to
the late Allen and Mabel (Greenwalt) Crum. He was also
preceded in death by a brother, Edward Crum. He is survived by
his wife, Mary Lou; a daughter, Christine (Herm) Green of
Sandy, Ore.; two sons, Michael (Chris) Crum and Gary (Shelley)
Nelson of Portland, Ore.; a stepdaughter, Karen Emerson of
Lansing, Mich.; three stepsons, William (Monika) Felten of
South Bend, Ind., James (Barbara) Felton of Kalamazoo, Mich., and
Scott (Stacy) Felten of Osceola, Ind.; 18 grandchildren and two
great- grandchildren; and by a sister, Mary Webb of Dallas,
Texas. Mr. Crum graduated from Plymouth High School in 1942
before joining the U.S. Army. He served in the U.S. Army from
1943 to 1945, serving on Okinawa. He was honorably discharged on
Nov. 11, 1945, and was a lifetime member of the DAV Post #19 in
South Bend. As an accountant he worked for International
Harvester and Bechons Moving Company in Portland until 1970 when
he returned to Indiana. He worked for Advanced Schools in South
Bend as a sales representative. He was active as a leader in the
South Bend Support Group for Multiple Sclerosis, and was a member
of the Coalbush United Methodist Church of Mishawaka.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
on Wednesday, Jan. 10, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N.
Main Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will take place at 10
a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, in the Coalbush United Methodist
Church, 15977 Jackson Road, Mishawaka, where friends may call one
hour before the services. Rev. James Davidson will officiate the
services, and burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth,
Ind.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
