Erma P. Crowel
March 10, 1918-June 11, 1995
GRANGER - Erma P. Crowel, 77, of Gumwood
Road, died at 12:25 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka.
Mrs. Crowel retired from Michigan National Bank after 21 years of
service, was a former accountant for Crowel Farms, a former
hostess at Some Place Else Restaurant, Niles, and former
secretary for the superintendent of Penn-Harris-Madison School
Corp.
She was born March 10, 1918, in St.
Joseph County. On Oct. 29, 1939, in Bremen, as Erma P. Battles,
she married Donald L. Crowel. He died Oct. 30, 1977. She is
survived by three sons, Terry and Thomas, both of Granger, and
Dr. Bill of Bremen; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;
three sisters, Jeanette Martin and Virginia Beehler, both of
Wakarusa, and Ruby Geyer of Bremen; and a brother, Millard
Battles Jr. of Kent, Wash.
She was a member of Harris Prairie
Church of Christ, where she was a volunteer worker, a member of
Eagle Lodge 435, South Bend, Elkhart Moose Lodge 599, Knollwood
Assocation, and Kappa Psi Sigma Sorority. She was a former board
member of the St. Joseph County Board of Zoning Appeals and
former member of Indiana State Soil and Water Conservation
Auxiliary.
Services will be at 11 a.m.
Thursday in Harris Prairie Church of Christ. Burial will be in St.
Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 1 to 4 and 6
to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033
Cleveland Road, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to
the church, St. Vincent DePaul or American Cancer Society
