MISHAWAKA - Leonard Crothers, 92, of Mishawaka, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2008, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. Leonard was born on January 7, 1916, in Bremen, IN, to Bert and Flora (Wilcox) Crothers. Leonard married the former Arline E. Crites in Butler, Indiana, on April 16, 1949. Leonard and Arline shared 59 years of love and commitment to each other before his death. Leonard is survived by his wife, Arline, and their two children, Richard (Georgiana) Crothers of Mishawaka and Terry (Mary) Crothers of Granger. Leonard was a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Crothers of Walled Lake, Michigan, Michael Crothers of Osceola, Timothy (Brandy) Crothers of South Bend, Lisa Crothers of Mishawaka, Leslie (Mark) Wood of Elkhart, Ronald (Kim) Griman of Elkhart and Lori (Robert) Urbanski of South Bend. Leonard was also a great-grandfather to 11 great-grandchildren. A brother, Richard J. Crothers of Mishawaka, also survives him. Preceding Leonard in death were his parents; a daughter, Beverly "Doll" Griman; a brother, Samuel Crothers; and three sisters, Bertha Fowler, Fannie Hook and Pearl Callantine. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Harold Crites, and two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Cochran and Ethel Dawson. Leonard served his country in the United States Army during W.W.II receiving an honorable discharge. He retired from Bendix / Allied Signal as a machine operator after 32 years of service. He was a member of VFW Post 360. Leonard enjoyed fishing as a hobby.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel. Burial is to follow the service at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN.
