MISHAWAKA - Her struggle has ended and she is at peace.
Joan passed away Sunday, July 8th, at home surrounded by her
family. Johanna Beverly was born November 25, 1926, to John C.
and Augusta Alice (Tedrow) West. She was preceded in death by her
parents, five siblings, Bob, Helen, Nell, Dorothy and Dick, and
by a nephew, John Hyska. Surviving are her husband of 65 years,
Eugene F. Crook, along with their children, Geni (Mike) Dial,
Janis Crook (John Juan), Jim (Cindy) Crook, and her Yorkie, Sara;
grandchildren, Gary Hogman Jr., Anna (Andy) Hartman, Jessica
(Shawn) Saros, Jenell (Ryan) Pogue, Justin (Stephanie) Crook and
Jo'el (Travis) Johanson; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Sam,
Aubrey, Ashlyn, Olivia, Sam, Jayden and Tucker; nieces and
nephews, Karen, Pete, Mary Beth and Matt; and sisters-in-law,
Margaret "Peggy" Melton and Anita West. Joan was office
manager at the Mishawaka Utilities, retiring in 1988. Joan
enjoyed her job with Mishawaka Utilities, where she was highly
thought of by the many friends she made while working 25 years
with the city. Joan played bridge for nearly 60 years, and
enjoyed working in her yard. Family and friends may call on
Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N.
Main Street, Mishawaka, where funeral services will take place on
Friday at 10:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the
funeral services. Pastor Steven Schwier will officiate the
services with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice and caregiver
Stephanie Crook for their kind and loving care of Joan. Donations
may be made to the Hospice Foundation or to the Alzheimer's Association.
