MISHAWAKA - Evelyn S. Crofoot, 77, of Seventh Street, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday in Michiana Community Hospital, South Bend, after an illness. Mrs. Crofoot retired in 1974 from Southside Electric Co., South Bend, after 24 years of service. She was born May 20, 1917, in Mishawaka and was a lifelong area resident. In 1940, in Mishawaka, as Evelyn S. VanBruaene, she married Louis Horvath. He died in 1959. On Feb. 24, 1974, in Mishawaka, she married Robert Crofoot. He survives with a son, Richard L. Horvath of New Hartford, N.J.; a stepson, David R. Crofoot of Los Angeles; two grandchildren; three sisters, Elsie Maenhout, Georgean Bieganski and Darlene Kasznia, all of Mishawaka; and two brothers, Maurice VanBruaene of Granger and Leroy VanBruaene of South Bend. She was a member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church, B.K. Club Auxiliary and American Association of Retired Persons.
Hahn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.

MISHAWAKA - Services for Evelyn S. Crofoot, 77, of Seventh Street, who died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday in Michiana Community Hospital, South Bend, will be at noon Thursday in St. Bavo's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Hahn Funeral Home, where wake prayers will be at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
