Gary L. Crimaldi, 53, of West 10th Street, Mishawaka, passed away after a year-long illness at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, in Hospice House, South Bend. Gary was born on Aug. 2, 1951, in South Bend, to Salvatore and Mary (Bentzler) Crimaldi. He was preceded in death by his father, Salvatore, and a brother, James Crimaldi.
On Oct. 19, 1979, in Mishawaka, he married the former Mary Margaret O'Brien, who preceded him in death on March 18, 2004. Gary is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mary (Myron) Burkhardt of Henderson, NV; a son, Sean of Texas; a sister, Karen Grove of Mishawaka; a brother, Robert (Debbie) Cox of Miamisburg, OH; several nieces and nephews, Sherrie, Amanda and Robert Cox, Christopher and Jennifer Grove, Brien Welsh, Christine (William) Tippens, Ann O'Brien (Andrew) Francis, Cathy O'Brien (Thomas) Seros and Nancy O'Brien (John) Pearce.
Gary was a designer for North American Signs for 18 years. He was an avid golfer and deer hunter. He enjoyed all kinds of sports, watching and participating.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, May 26, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 27, in the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
