Virginia May Creighton, 82, residing on Emerson Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away following a lengthy illness on Wednesday evening, Sept. 8, in the Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Creighton was born on Feb. 17, 1917, in South Bend, to the late Earl and Vivian Cole Tuttle, and had lived in the South Bend community all of her life.
On Feb. 24, 1934, in South Bend, as Virginia Tuttle, she married George F. Creighton. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years; two daughters, Marlene and John Zdonys of Elkhart, Ind., and Virginia ''Lee'' and William Hewitt of South Bend; two sons, George DeWayne and Janice Creighton of Bremen, Ind., and Gary Lynn Creighton of Florence, Ala.; and by 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Creighton was a longtime member of the First Brethren Church of Ardmore, South Bend. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Services for Mrs. Creighton will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka, Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Russell Gordon, pastor of the First Brethren Church of Ardmore, will officiate. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home.
