Don was born February 8, 1933, in Plattsburg, MO, to Riley and
Nellie Louise (Chipman) Creed, and had lived in South Bend
since 1963, coming from Grand Rapids, MI. Don married Midge Gilman
in Grand Rapids and they shared 56 years together. She survives
along with two daughters, Laura L. (Bill) Pemberton of
Mishawaka and Linda L. Vervaet of South Bend; a son, Don
P. (Pam) Creed Jr. of Edwardsburg, Michigan; seven grandchildren,
Bill (Daphne) Pemberton, Stephanie (Matt) Lemieux, Maggie
Vervaet, Elizabeth Vervaet, Doug (Melissa) Vervaet, Mekenzie
Creed and Colton Creed; five great-grandchildren; and a sister,
Colleen (Robert) Duke of Beaumont, California. Don was
co-owner of Pinocchio's Pizza Parlor in the Georgetown Shopping
Center from the late 70s to the early 80s, and also worked in
sales for much of his life. He was president of the LaSalle High
School Adult Booster Club in the late 60s and early 70s, and
coached at Chet Waggoner Little League and in the Knute Rockne
Babe Ruth League. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Detroit
Tigers, especially #6, Al Kaline. Don was friendly and outgoing,
and had most of the answers for all sorts of trivia. He knew a
little bit about everything. His greatest joy was being around
his family or at a ball game.
