SOUTH BEND - Arvid H. Craker, 70, of Hollywood Place, died at 4:25 a.m. Friday in Meridian Nursing Center-Cardinal after an illness. Mr. Craker retired in 1987 as an electrician with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 134, Chicago. He was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Vernon County, Wis., and lived in this area since 1987, coming from Elmhurst, Ill.
On Feb. 16, 1946, in Chicago, he married Bonnie J. Bennett. She died in April 1955. On Jan. 4, 1957, in Chicago, he married Ida Rose Wipf. She survives with three sons, Dale and Ronald, both of South Bend, and David of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; a sister, Vivien Craker of Newburg, Ore.; and a brother, Wendell of Rabun Gap, Ga.
He was a member of South Bend Area Geneological Society and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday in Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 1733 Cleveland Road. Burial will be Tuesday in Genoa Township Cemetery, Genoa, Ill. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
