SOUTH BEND - Fred J. Craft, 74, of Charles Avenue, died at 7:45 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Craft retired in 1985 from Bendix Corp. He was born April 2, 1921, in Detroit and lived in South Bend for 50 years.

On April 24, 1948, in South Bend, he married Irene Romanowski. She survives with four daughters, Janet A. Kocjan of Creswell, Ore., Sharon S. Craft of Indianapolis, and Susan M. Craft and JoAnn M. Craft, both of South Bend; three grandchildren; and a brother, Melvin of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360, Mishawaka, American Legion Post 50 and Bendix Local 9.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, 850 N.
