MISHAWAKA - Edward George Costa, 88, of North Main Street,
Mishawaka, passed away at 12:02 a.m. Sunday in Hospice House,
Elkhart, following an illness. He was born in Cambridge,
Massachusetts, to John and Rosalina (Perry) Costa, who both
preceded him in death. On May 30th, 1946, he married the former
Wilma Marie Shirk. She died October 30th, 2004. Edward was a WW
II veteran of the Army Air Corps. He was retired as a press
operator at Ball Band in Mishawaka. Mr. Costa was a member of the
Democratic Party and served as a precinct committeeman. He is
survived by seven children, Cynthia (Lawrence) Hupp of Niles, MI,
Diana (Brian) Gottry of Troy, MI, Anita (Robert) Blume of
Edwardsburg, MI, Donald (Susan) Costa of Mercer Island, WA,
Philip (Barbara) Costa of Bastrop, TX, Marlena (Craig) Parmley of
Mishawaka and Brian (Amiee) Costa of Mishawaka. He was preceded
in death by a son, Gregory Costa. He is also survived by 17
grandchildren, Jeffrey Hupp, Jason Hupp, Heather Gottry, Erin
(Jeremy) Raynak, Patrick Gottry, Kristina (Jeremy) Lind, Robin
Blume, John Blume, Christopher Costa, Jonathan Costa, Ashlyn
Costa, Arriana Solomon, Isabella Costa, Gabriella Costa, Jeremy
Costa, Katherine Parmley and Matthew Parmley; and by four
great-grandchildren, Caspian and Aja Lind, Alexander and Emma
Raynak. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in St. Monica
Catholic Church, Mishawaka, at 10:00 a.m. Friday. Friends will be
received from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel,
3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, and for one hour prior to the
Mass on Friday in the church. Burial will follow the services
Friday at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. The family has
requested that memorial contributions be made to a food pantry of
the donor's choice in Edward's name.
