Mary "Mamie" Corredo, 89,
of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 6, in the
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. She was born in
Uhrichsville, Ohio, to Edward and Maude (Cotton) Scott.
Mary grew up in Uhrichsville and on Oct. 28,
1933, she married Julius "Jack" Corredo. A few years
after marriage they settled in Mishawaka where Mary did domestic
work at the Beiger Mansion and for a local family. She later
owned and operated Mishabend Domestic Service agency which was a
placement service for those doing domestic-type work. Mary and
Jack enjoyed collecting antiques. She is particularly remembered
for her baking.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband
James in 1996, and by five brothers and three sisters, including
Ethel Alice Nichols, who lived locally. She is survived by
several nieces and nephews including local residents, Ruth Ann
(John) Black of Mishawaka and Walter (Joyce) Nichols of
North Webster, Ind.; and by a great-nephew and great-niece,
Maxwell Scott Black and Whitney Black.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the
Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, 503 W. Third St., Mishawaka,
with Rev. Erv Mize officiating. The family will receive friends
one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at Fairview
Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
