Keith C. Coros Sept. 10, 1946 - July 23, 2008
GRANGER - Keith C. Coros, 61, passed to his rest on Wednesday,
July 23, in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital as the result
of an vehicle and wheelchair accident in South Bend, that same
day. Keith was the wheelchair person. Keith was born September
10,1946 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Kotska and Ardis Coros
and had lived most of his life in Michiana area. He graduated
from Purdue University with honors and did his Masters work at
Ball State. He taught Special Education and then worked for
Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation for 23 years. He was presently
executive Director of Michigan Center for Independent Living. His
board of directors are a loyal dedicated group whose mission was
to better the lives of all persons with a disability. A selfless
man, Keith's dream was a barrier free world where all persons
could work and live a full life. He told many people "I am
more than I appear". "I have no doubt Keith is in
Heaven as he accepted Christ as his Savior in 1984", said
his wife, Judy. He went to weekly Bible Study with a great group
of guys. He and his pastor, Pastor Jeff Reese, had a special
bond. Keith is survived by his wife, Judy; brother, Jeff (Alma)
Coros; nephew, Jonathon Coros; nieces, Alyssa Coros, Kara and
Mara Smith, Jeri Cabara of Tampa, FL, and Jason Smith of Niles.
Several people he loved as brothers are Tim Kallock of
California, Brett Riggs, Dean Clark, Cork Loken and George Ried.
He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Barb Smith of
Tennessee. Keith also was a foster parent and advocate for the
mentally challenged for 12 years. He cherished time spent with
his family and friends, and he demonstrated a true Christian Life
to those around him. So many lives were touched by Keith, and the
life he lead. The family would like to thank the many kind people
of St. Joseph County, IN, who helped him maintain his
independence, including the firemen, policemen, and all of the
Good Samaritans who help push his wheelchair when it gave out.
God Bless each of you. Friends will be welcomed by the family to
share memories at a Celebration of Life, in the Hope United
Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Road, Edwardsburg, on Sunday,
July 27 at 4 p.m. Friends may call for one hour before the
celebration. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Reese, pastor of the
church. Those wishing to honor Keith with a memorial donation,
may direct them to the family. Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home,
Edwardsburg, MI is handling arrangements. For information call
269-663-5345 at the funeral home. There will be a luncheon
following the celebration, and all are welcome.
