Jacqueline A. Corner, 68, of Grove
Street in South Bend, Ind., passed away at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday,
Aug. 28, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born on Sept.
29, 1933, to the late Frederick R. and Bessie (Day) Bourdon
in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. She was also
preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Bourdon. Mrs. Corner was
the co-owner of the Sunshine Laundry in South Bend for 20 years.
On Jan. 1, 1955, as Jacqueline A. Bourdon, she married Roger L.
Corner in South Bend. He survives. She is also survived by one
daughter, Brenda L. (Lawrence) Jamie of Orlando, Fla.;
four sons, Randall L. (Luann) Corner of Newport, N.C., David M.
Corner of South Bend, Douglas A. (Elizabeth) Corner of South Bend
and Michael D. Corner of Chino, Calif.; six grandchildren; three
sisters, Joyce (Berl) Burbank of Florence, Ala., Janice
(Larry) Bupp of Portland, Ind., Patricia (James) Smuda
of South Bend; and by a brother, Sam (Geraldine) Bourdon of
Florence. Mrs. Corner was instrumental in organizing the fire
dispatch center at the Clay Township Fire Department.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m.
today, Aug. 30, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix
Drive, South Bend. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, Aug. 31, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, with Rev.
Donald Bayne officiating. Burial will follow at Highland
Cemetery.
