Donald A. "Mack" Cormican,
82, of Prairie Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an
extended illness at 2:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29 in Memorial
Hospital. Mr. Cormican was born on Sept. 26, 1918 in Nappanee,
Ind. and resided in the South Bend area since 1992 coming from
Rocky Mount, N.C. Mack retired in 1983 from the Volkswagen
Automotive Company in Santa Maria, Calif. after many years of
service.
Mr. Cormican is survived by two daughters,
Mariann (Louis) Jacobs of Rocky Mount, N.C. and Lois (Sam)
Rubin of North Hills, Calif.; a step-daughter, Shelley Anderson
of Corona, Calif.; Mack's companion, Thelma K. Amons
of South Bend; two grandchildren, Michael (Wendy) Regan of
Bakersfield, Calif. and Rebecca (Michael) Batchelor of
Rocky Mount; and by three great-grandchildren, Stephan Regan and
Megan and Victoria Batchelor. Mack loved and cherished his family
as did his family loved him. He will be sadly missed by all who
knew him.
Visitation hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, 2001 in the Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001 in the funeral home with Pastor Douglas L. Jividen of the Plymouth Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Syracuse Cemetery in Syracuse, Ind. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Plymouth Baptist Church, St. Joseph County Cancer Society or to the St. Joseph County Heart Association. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and extends heartfelt sympathy to the Cormican family.
