Samuel D. Corle, Sr, 2022 Mishawaka Ave., died 12:45 pm Wednesday in his home after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Corle was born in Streator, Ill., Sep. 25, 1870, and came here from Kankakee, Ill., 41 years ago. He married Barbara Beam in South Bend in 1899. He worked for the New York Central System 53 years. He started as a call boy and became an engineer. He had been retired 18 years. He was been a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers 50 years. Surviving besides his widow are a daughter, Mrs. Elva Humphrey and a son, Samuel D. Jr., both of South Bend, a brother, Lewis of Streater and three grandchildren. Friends may call after 7 pm today in the Hollis Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday with Rev. Quinton Everest, pastor of River Park Gospel Center, officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
