John C. Coppens

July 15, 1944 – January 28, 1987

John C. Coppens, 42, of 510 W. 12^th St., died at 7:50am today in St Joseph Hospital after an apparent heart attack.  Mr. Coppens was employed by Jordan’s Mishawaka Transfer and was a former employee of the Dodge Manufacturing Division of Reliance Electric Co.

He was born July 15, 1944, in Mishawaka, and was a lifelong area resident.  On September 15, 1962, in Mishawaka, he married the former Sharon A. Wiese, who survives with a daughter, Jill, at home; a son, John C Jr, at home; five sisters, Mary Rose Portolese, Marlene Gosztola and Marge Bradley, all of Mishawaka, Judy Long o Greenville SC, and Jo Ann Stealy of South Bend; and a brother, David of Union.

Services will be at 10am Friday in St Bavo’s Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 9pm Thursday in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where a wake will be at 7:30pm.  Mr. Coppens was a member of the BK Club, DeAmicis and the Mishawaka High School Boosters Club.
