Jennie A. Coppens, 81, of North Clay Street, Mishawaka, passed away after a brief illness at 9:30 AM Saturday, March 19, 2005, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Jennie was born May 22, 1923, in Mishawaka, as the daughter of the late John and Anna (Shall) Ragal.
On September 29, 1945, in Mishawaka, as the former Jennie Ragal, she married Herman Coppens, who preceded her in death on April 20, 1984. One stepson, Rene L. Coppens, a step-grandson, Eric Coppens, one sister, Helen Burns, and one brother, Sam Sanicous, also preceded Jennie in death. Two daughters, Eugenia C. "Jeanne" Fowler of Mishawaka and Linda S. Coppens of South Bend, and two grandchildren, Jessica Mataranglo and Jason Fowler, survive Jennie. Two great-grandchildren, Anthony Mataranglo and Ethan Fowler. Two sisters, Marie Stanton of Mishawaka and Joan Ragal of Macon, GA.
Jennie was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka, and was a member of Eagles Aerie #2083 Ladies Auxiliary in Mishawaka.
Family and friends may call from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22nd, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A wake prayer service will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, March 23rd, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church, with Rev. Jeffery Largent officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
