UNION – David Coppens, 45, of 69100 Bennington Ave., died this morning in Elkhart General Hospital of natural causes.  Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka, is in charge of arrangements.

August 21, 1947 – July 1, 1993

David R. Coppens, 45, of East Kessington Road, Union, formerly of Mishawaka, was dead on arrival at 5:30am Thursday in Elkhart General Hospital following an illness.  Mr. Coppens was employed at Dodge Division of Reliance Electric Co.

He was born August 21, 1947, in Mishawaka and was a lifelong area resident.  On August 21, 1974, in Mishawaka, he married Linda L. Muncey.  She survives, with one step daughter, Rina Muncey at home; two stepsons, Ronald Muncey of Union and Randy Muncey of Grand Rapids; two step grandchildren; and five sisters, Mary Rose Portolese, Marlene Gosztoli and Margaret Bradley, all of Mishawaka, Jo Ann Stealy of South Bend and Judy Long of Greenville SC.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member o the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360.

Services will be at 10:30am Saturday in St Bavo’s Catholic Church.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm today in Hahn Funeral Home.
