Clifton W. Copeland

August 26, 1919 – May 30, 1997

Clifton W. Copeland, 77, of South Bend, passed away Friday, May 30, at his home.

He was born August 26, 1919, in South Bend, to the late Clifton M. & Louise (Grey) Copeland.  He was married on July 19, 1942, in South Bend, to Frances Helmick who died in 1993.  Surviving are a son Clifton E. Copeland of Greendale IN, along with two grandchildren, Angela Marie Story of Cincinnati OH and Daniel Roger Copeland of Greendale, and a brother, Robert Leroy Copeland of South Bend.  Mr. Copeland had tow brothers who preceded him in death, Richard and Walter.

Clifton retired from the South Bend Fire Dept. which he served for 22 years and he was working for the Brinks Armored Car Service of South Bend.  Mr. Copeland was an active member of Zion United Church of Christ where services were held.  He also belonged to the Indiana Fireman’s Association.

Memorials in his memory may be made to the Zion United Church of Christ.  Cremation and burial has taken place.  The Welsheimer Funeral home handled arrangements.
