NEW CARLISLE - Henry J. Cooreman, 88, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle. Henry was born on December 22, 1919, in Tracy, MN, to the late Judocous and Helena (Verplaetze) Cooreman.

On June 6, 1959, he married Mary Ann (Podemski) Cooreman, who preceded him in death on March 4, 1985. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Landuyt, and three brothers, Marcell, Steve and Paul Cooreman. He is survived by his children, Patricia (Bob) Turk of South Bend, Nancy (Dave) Wood of Howell, MI, Thomas (Maria) Cooreman of Eagle Lake, MI, Marvin (Sheryl) Podemski of New Carlisle, Mark (Debbie) Podemski of New Carlisle and Martin Podemski of New Carlisle; 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and by his brother, August Cooreman of South Bend.

Henry was involved with the development of Bendix Woods and was an original employee there. In 1980 he retired from farming. He was a lifetime member of the St. Joseph County Farm Bureau, and was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior in the church. Burial will follow at New Carlisle Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
