SOUTH BEND - Gerald W. Cooke, 82, of 4310 Queens Row, died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital after an illness. Mr. Cooke retired in 1980 as a self-employed barber. He was born Jan. 19, 1912, in Le Roy, Ill., and lived in South Bend since 1992, coming from Illinois.

On Dec. 24, 1933, in Atlanta, Ill., he married Flora M. Spence. She survives, with a daughter, Patricia M. McIntire of Granger; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Sybil Gordon of Bloomington, Ill.; and a brother, Delmer of Bloomington.

There will be no services or visitation. Cremation will take place. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Bubb Funeral Chapel, Mishawaka, is in charge of arrangements.
