Wesley Edward (Ed) Comegys, 89, formerly of Mishawaka, IN., passed away at 3:35 a.m. Friday April 14, 2006, in Rose Garden Homes in Grandville, MI.
Ed was born on June 1, 1916, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Delonia and Sarah (Slack) Comegys, who both have preceded him in death. He was also preceded by two sisters, Florence Smith and Frances Louise Comegys who passed away at the age of 17 in Des Moines, Iowa.
On February 2, 1941, Ed married Marjorie Lucille Davis, who preceded him in death on February 16, 2005.
Ed is survived by one son, Gregory (Jennifer) Comegys of Caledonia, MI., two daughters, Sharon (Larry) Huemmer of Mishawaka, IN., and Linda (Jeffrey) Chapman of Fernandina, FL. Grandchildren and families: Bob and Miriam Taylor (Andrew and Ainslee); Dan and Heather VanHuis (Benjamin, Haley and Maxwell); Rachel Comegys (Kennedy); Korey and Kirk Chapman; Andrew and Erika Huemmer (Hannah Rose); Patrick Huemmer (Tina); one sister, Betty Zwickl of South Bend, IN.; two brothers, Bob Comegys of Tampa, FL, and Lonnie (Bub) of Sarasota, FL.
Ed graduated from East High School in Des Moines after leaving school for one year to work and help his family financially. As a young man he loved to play softball in the quad Cities and was proud of shagging balls for Ronald Reagan. His family then moved to South Bend where Ed worked as a Tool and Die maker. He and Marjorie loved to dance to Big Band music and belonged to several dance clubs in the South Bend area. When he retired, he and Marjorie would go to Brownville, Texas, for the winter months. They lived on Jackson Road for 61 years before they moved to Merry Miller's Merry Manor in Wakarusa as Marjorie needed more care. After Marjorie's death in 2005, Ed went to live at Rose Garden Assisted Living in Grandville, Michigan, near his son and wife.
Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, IN, where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2006, with Rev. Ervin Mize officiating with burial to follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.

Ed will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We thank the nursing staff at Rose Garden for all of their loving care with Ed during his last days. Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa-we love you and we will miss you!
