Arthur R. Colley
March 14, 1927 -- July 10, 2004
Arthur R. Colley, 77, of South Bend, Ind., passed away Saturday evening, July 10, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
He was born March 14, 1927, in Mishawaka, Ind., a son of Arthur R. and Josephine E. (Everett) Colley. Art grew up and spent many of his adult years in Mishawaka and in later years lived in South Bend. He served his country in the US Navy during World War II. On June 10, 1945, in Mishawaka, he married the former Marguerite L. Mahler. Art was a self-employed contractor and was a bartender at Kay's Bar for about 10 years before retiring.
Art was a lifetime member of VFW Post #360. His past-times included fishing, reading, playing darts and cards. Art also enjoyed spending time doing research on the internet and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Thomas Colley and George Everett Colley; and four sisters, Alice Salisbury, Evelyn Sanderson, Virginia Dusek and Donnabell Richards.
Art's surviving family includes his two daughters, Karen Yazback and her husband, Yareb of South Bend and Carol Burkhart of Elkhart, Ind.; a sister, Marion Ogle of Plymouth, Ind.; three grandchildren, Shadya Yazback, Ramzy Yazback and Lisa Bloss and her husband, Robert; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Hannah Bloss; and special family friends, Michelle and Brad Highland and their children, Zoe, Ellie and Wyatt.
Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 West Third Street, Mishawaka, where services will begin at 2 p.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
