MISHAWAKA - Marion F. Colhoun, 76, of Catalpa Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., died early Saturday morning, March 20, 1999, in the Saint Paul's Retirement Community in South Bend, after an extended illness. Mrs. Colhoun was born on Jan. 23, 1923, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, to George and Genevieve (Walters) Flater, who preceded her in death.
On Aug. 19, 1948, in Chicago, Ill., she married Elmer C. Colhoun, who died on Nov. 17, 1985, in Plymouth, Ind. She was also preceded by her daughter, Susan M. Colhoun; and by her sister, Margaret Stapleton. Survivors include her two daughters, Irene C. (Joseph P.) Dailey of Granger, Ind., and Lynn C. (James E.) Olson of North Liberty, Ind. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Christine M. Dailey of Kalamazoo, Mich., Carolyn M. (Darren) Goodwin of South Bend, Rachel L., Erin M., Steven J. and Roman D. Olson, all of North Liberty, Ind.; and one brother, Graham G. Flater of West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Trinity Evangelical Free Church, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Pastor Craig Clapper will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Plymouth, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mrs. Colhoun to the Trinity Evangelical Free Church Outreach Center or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Mrs. Colhoun was a homemaker, and she studied and taught piano for many years before retiring. She devoted her life sacrificially to the nurturing of her children and grandchildren who she dearly loved.
