George N. Cole

George N. Cole, 59, of East Warrick Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an illness at 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, in his residence. Mr. Cole was born on Jan. 19, 1940 in South Bend.

On Dec. 4, 1965, in St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, South Bend, he married the former Lesley Dixon, who survives. He is also survived by their two sons, George (Nancy) Cole, Jr. of Osceola, Ind. and Richard D. Cole of South Bend; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Cole, Rachel Cole and Jack Cole; a sister, Peggy (Todd) Schmeltz of Osceola; and by a brother, Bill (Sandy) Asherman of Mishawaka, Ind. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Kindley on Jan. 22, 1998; one sister, Mary Ann Scobey in 1966; and by one brother, Thomas Longfield in 1997. Mr. Cole was the former owner of Cole's Restaurant in Buchanan, Mich. for seventeen years.

Friends called from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today in the funeral home, with Steve Nani, CSC officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
