SOUTH BEND - Bernice E. Cohen, 101, of Hart, Mich., formerly of South Bend, died at 8:10 a.m. Sunday in Oceana County Medical Care Center, Hart. Mrs. Cohen was a former bookkeeper for Indiana Lumber Co. for 15 years. She was born July 11, 1893, in LaGrange County, and lived in South Bend until moving to Hart five years ago. On Nov. 3, 1920, in St. Joseph, as Bernice E. Vaughn, she married Sidney H. Cohen. He died April 1, 1985. She is survived by two daughters, Isabell Stickley of South Bend and Joan Staten of Jackson, Minn.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Irene Endicott of Aurora, Ill.; and a brother, Edward Doudt of Fort Wayne. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 357.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 1201 S. Michigan St. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. until services on Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Oceana County Medical Care Center, Hart, MI 49420 or Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
