Sister M. Ellen Carlos CSC, 67, died early this morning at St. Mary’s Convent. She was born Helen Gertrude Coen in Davenport, Iowa, in 1891. She was educated at St. Mary’s in Davenport and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in March 1917, receiving the habit of the Sisters the same year. She made her profession of final vows in 1922. During her community life she taught in Ogden, Utah; Nampa, Idaho; Peoria and Chicago, Ill.; and Plymouth, South Bend and Gary. She taught at St. Patrick’s and St. Joseph Schools here from 1950 to 1954. She had been a patient at the mother house at St. Mary’s since 1956. Surviving are five sister, including Sister M. Lorettyn CSC.

Services will be held Thursday in Our Lady of Loretto Church will burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, as St. Mary’s. Friends may call in the convent parlors.
